VICES & VENGEANCE
THE GAME GUIDE
Example game play
One turn.
Six rolls of fate.
Four challengers gather around the table. Follow Jordan’s
first turn, from the opening handful to the final dice,
and see how each decision changes the score.
Before the first roll
The Sins choose their champions
Jordan. Taylor. Casey. Avery.
Each rolls a d20 to determine who goes first. Jordan wins.
Play then moves clockwise: Taylor, Casey, and Avery.
Starting with Jordan, each player rolls the Mirror die
with the remaining large Sin dice and chooses a Sin
that matches the Mirror’s number.
Jordan · Wrath
The Mirror shows 5, and both Lust
and Wrath match. Lust is tempting, but Wrath feels
stronger. Jordan takes the large Wrath d6, Wrath d20,
and matching token.
Taylor · Sloth
The Mirror shows 3. Nothing matches.
Taylor rerolls the Mirror and remaining Sin dice.
This time, the Mirror shows 4 and
only Sloth matches. Taylor takes Sloth’s large d6,
d20, and token.
Casey · Greed
The Mirror shows 2, and Greed
flashes gold across the table with a matching 2.
Casey takes Greed’s large d6, d20, and token.
Avery · Pride
The Mirror shows 4, and Pride
matches. Avery takes the large purple Sin d6,
the extra metallic-purple Pride d6, the Pride d20,
and matching token.
Record everyone’s original Sin. Lust, Gluttony, and Envy
remain in the reserves. Jordan becomes the defender;
Taylor, Casey, and Avery are the attackers.
Roll 01 / 17 dice
Sloth strikes first
Jordan gathers all seven small Sin dice, the three
Spoiler dice, all three Mythical Match-up pairs, and
the Wrath d20. Jordan’s large Wrath die stays aside.
The attackers roll their large Sin dice and Nemesis dice.

Taylor makes a match
Taylor’s large Sloth die shows 1,
matching Jordan’s small Sloth die. No other
attack matches occur.
Jordan immediately rerolls both Sloth dice for the
penalty. They land on 5 and 2.
Neither matches the other, so they score
(6 − 5) + (6 − 2) = 5 points.
Sloth takes hold: Taylor’s Nemesis die is
permanently removed from the game.
Such is Sloth.
A free pair
Scoring the Sloth penalty removes Jordan’s small
Sloth die and meets the removal requirement.
Taylor keeps the large Sloth die.
Jordan also removes David and Goliath. Their
matching 6s score
0 points.
Jordan keeps the other 14 dice for the next roll.

No attack matches
Casey and Avery miss. Taylor has no eligible dice
to roll: Jordan’s small Sloth die has been scored,
and Taylor’s Nemesis is out of play.
The Mirror and Medusa both show 6.
Jordan scores the pair together for
0 points.
Removing the pair meets this roll’s removal
requirement. Jordan decides to reroll everything else.
Mythical Match-up dice must be scored as a pair.
A matching pair scores 0.

Another escape
Again, no attack matches. Jordan is rolling like
the dice owe them money.
The Silver Bullet shows a numbered
6 and is not standing upright
on its base. The Werewolf shows 5.
Jordan scores them together:
0 + 1 = 1 point.
The d10 showing 9 is also worth
just 1 point. Jordan removes it too.
The d8 showing 6 is tempting, but Jordan decides
to chase something better than 2 points.

Close doesn’t count
Casey’s Nemesis shows 15;
Avery’s shows 11.
Neither matches Jordan’s 16,
and neither attacker makes a Sin match.
Jordan removes the small Pride die.
Its maximum roll of 6 scores
0 points.
The Wrath d20 could be scored for 4 points,
but Jordan keeps chasing a higher roll.
Avery keeps their Pride dice and token.
Jordan’s small Pride die returns next defending turn.

Still no attack matches
Somehow, everyone misses again.
Jordan chooses to score Greed and Envy.
Greed shows 1:
6 − 1 = 5 points.
Envy shows 4:
6 − 4 = 2 points.
That adds 7 points.
Removing Greed also means Casey’s large Greed die
can no longer make a Sin match during this turn.
Jordan could score different dice. Taking Greed
now is costly, but removes the chance of a later
Greed match this turn.
Total: 14
Roll 06 / 6 dice
One last handful
Six dice remain. Casey and Avery can still attack with
their Nemesis dice, but none of the attackers has a
large Sin die whose matching small die remains in
Jordan’s roll.
| Die | Result |
|---|---|
| Lust d6 | 5 |
| Gluttony d6 | 6 |
| Wrath d6 | 6 |
| Spoiler d12 | 12 |
| Spoiler d8 | 8 |
| Wrath d20 | 20 |
The gamble pays off
Casey’s Nemesis lands on 9.
Avery’s lands on 13.
Neither matches Jordan’s 20.
Gluttony, Wrath, the d12, the d8, and the Wrath
d20 all show their maximum numbers.
Each scores 0 points.
Lust shows 5, worth
1 point. Jordan takes it
and scores all six remaining dice.
The table exhales. Jordan’s first turn is over.
Final total: 15
Record Jordan’s 15 points. Taylor becomes the defender,
starting with all seven small Sin dice, the three
Mythical Match-up pairs, and the three Spoiler dice.
Taylor rolls 16 dice because their Nemesis was
permanently removed by Sloth.
